DTI Silent Installation AND Configuration

Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS 14

Hi Everyone,

I'm successfully able to create a silent installation of DTI.  However I'm unsuccessful at auto-configuring a connection to the production Windchill server.  I thought exporting the registry key and importing it after the installation would do the job but it does not.  I'm able to get the "Production" icon within the "Windchill Documents" area of Windows Explorer but it doesn't contain any configuration data.  When I right-click and choose Windchill->Configuration the window comes up empty.  No servers with an alias.  Has anyone been able to configure DTI automatically?  I would hate to have all my users do this manually.

Thanks,

Patrick Williams

Hi Patrick,

I'm just wondering if you figured this out, as I didn't see a further response from you on this thread.  If it's still an issue, I'd suggest opening a Support case.

Windchill DTI silent installation is supposed to support passing Windchill server url & alias name on command line.
ex.
msiexec /i setup.msi  /q  DTI_SERVER_URL="http://<host>/Windchill"; DTI_SERVER_ALIAS="TestWind"

Were you trying this, or did I misunderstand your original posting?

Or did you confirm your issue, was more related to the other postings?

I haven't tried it but I do want to ask you a question about DTI.  We are on CPS12 but had to uninstall it for many users.  When you right-click on an item in a Windows Explorer the menu took about 10 or 20 seconds to display.  After uninstalling it the menu display right away.

Have you tried this?

Hi Steve,

have you already seen this article?

Seriously??? "Corrected (partially)". No, I did not see that.  Thank you @Marco_Tosin .

I would assume that @pwilliams-3  has this?

Does anyone have 11.1 and use DTI?  Is the problem still there?

Where did you find those options documented????  I cannot find them.

DTI_SERVER_URL="http://<host>/Windchill"; DTI_SERVER_ALIAS="TestWind"

I remember coming across them in some other customer's posting or conversation, as they were looking at using that to implement.  Actually, it may not be supported technically.

Thanks Michael!  The following command line registered the Windchill server during installation.

msiexec /i setup.msi /passive DTI_SERVER_URL="URL" DTI_SERVER_ALIAS="ALIAS"

/passive shows the progress bars so the user is aware of the installation and completion.

I should add that this worked with "PTC Windchill Desktop Integration 11.0 M030-CPS14 (x64)" DTI installation.

Glad to hear it!
