Document Revision, Losing an Iteration

Hello,

Currently inside Windchill PDMLink, when you revise a document from Rev
A to B, it goes from let's say A.1 to B.1

It copies the content that is in Rev A and puts it in Rev B. So, B.1
will have the same content as A.1

Then you have to perform a replace content in Rev B. So, it iterates
from B.1 to B.2

I had not thought of this as an issue until recently, we have started a
Compliance Lab process using the Library functionality.

The process owner noticed this and asked me if there is a way to go from
A.1 to B.1 with the new content, because technically it is same when it
comes to rev A.1 and rev B.1, nothing is different between these two. It
can cause an issue with the Audits.

It was then I also observed, we lose an iteration unnecessarily.

I wondered, if the wizard for revision and replace content can be
converted into one wizard to do this. In other words Revise and Replace
Content should happen on the Revision wizard. It will save some clicks
inside Windchill for the end user and makes it easy to perform revision.

I was going to submit an enhancement request to the PTC tech support. (I
had a tech support call earlier where I got the confirmation it is not
possible to do that)

I wanted to check if losing an iteration is of any concern to other
companies as well.

Please let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Rekha
