Dual Core Xeon 5160 compatiable with Intralink 3.4 and 8.0
Hi, I have been reading thru Edwin's comprehensive summary on upgrading from 3.3 to 3.4 M040. Noticed a patch is required for a dual processor https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=129653. We are currently planning to migrate to a brand new server, probably with Dual Core Xeon 5160 processor(s). Have you had a postive/negative experience with dual core Xeon hosting Intralink 3.x or 8.0? We feel pretty comfortable with the rest of the specs for our environment, just not 100% on the dual core.
Proposed new server: HP Proliant DL380 G5 2 x Dual Core 3.0ghz Windows server 2003 (standard) 1 or 2 dual core Xeon 5160 processors (ok dual might be overkill, but its easier to buy it up front than ask for it later, and it will definitely accelerate OS calls) 4GB Ram Redundancy on fan, pwr supply etc. great gobs of disk space: -mirrored OS and logging partition -Raid controller with 512 Battery Backed Write Cache -- 3x 72GB for mirror OS and hot spare --5x 146GB w/1 hot spare with data drive of 438GB.
