Error while starting Windchill 9.1

Hi,

While trying to open windchill homepage using localhost,

The following error was encountered:

Unable to determine IP address from host name

The dnsserver returned:

Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

Please reply me.

Is Apache running? Try hitting it without the windchill application name with just http://localhost. When you try with the webapp name, do you at first see the PTC splash screen? Make sure your wt.property java.rmi.server.hostname is added to your hosts file as localhost.

Apache and tomcat are working properly and also i am getting PTC splash screen.

Hostname entry is present in hosts file as localhost but i dont have an IP address as 127.0.0.1 because while installing it was not accepted.

So please reply.

I'm confused.

Assuming your app name is Windchill, enter http://localhost/Windchill

1. Do you see the splash screen, then an error?

2. Do you see the splash screen, then an error?

3. What property do you have in wt.properties for java.rmi.server.hostname?

4. What do you have for ServerName in Apache's httpd.conf?

5. What name does Apache use for the BalancerMember in ajpWorkers.conf?

Following are the details:

1. http://localhost/Windchill and

2. http://127.0.0.1/Windchill then,

I am getting PTC splash screen, and error occurs.

3. Entry in the wt.properties is:

java.rmi.server.hostname=sespc4.ses.com

4.Entry in the Httpd.conf is:

ServerName sespc4.ses.com:80

5.Entry in the ajpWorkers.conf is:

BalancerMember ajp://localhost:8010 min=16 max=80 smax=40 ttl=900 keepalive=Off timeout=90000 retry=1 flushpackets=on

and one thing I want to mention that,

Entry present in the windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file is:

192.168.5.216 localhost sespc4.ses.com

I'm sorry, I missed this reply. Take the entry out of the hosts file on the server. Replace it with:

127.0.0.1 localhost sespc4.ses.com
