Getting Windows Pro/E and ILink Clients talking to each other

Level 1

Getting Windows Pro/E and ILink Clients talking to each other

All,
I managed to install both client applications, Wildfire and Ilink 3.3 on
my windows box and access the unix based license and file servers.

However, I can't seem to get the two applications talking to each other.
When I try to open a .prt from Ilink, I get the error: Environment
variable 'PDM_PROE_PATH' is not set. Please set it and try again.

I went into the Ilink startup .bat file and tried to hard code the
appropriate path c:\program files\proeWildfire in there, but no luck. I
did successfully change the HOMEDIR environment variable to a local drive
instead of a network drive in the Ilink startup script, so I am having
some luck.

Any tips from Ilink admin gurus?

BTW the client install of Pro/E and Ilink on a windows machine and pinging
the license server and file server was almost too easy.

If I can get them talking then I am good to go. I am seeing good
performance on a Dell Precision 220 (ONE OLD DOG!) running client apps
locally. Much better than a Sunblade 2000 running all applications over
the network including workspace and trail files!

Thanks,
Justin

Justin,

You need to set a system environment variable. On XP >Start>Control
panel>System>advanced>system environment variables. Create an environment
variable PEDM_ProE_Path to the start directory of Ilink (i.e. whatever
directory you wish to start in)
