Hi @Blacksmith

What our customers say about the ProjectLink?

PRJL is not user friendly 😄

It is too complicated for Project Managers.

It does not control if the user is overused on many other tasks

It does not support all Microsoft project tasks type

Sharing the data prom PDM to Project is painful 😄

I can say if users are well trained then the project link is useful for company business processes.

Hi @Blacksmith

Our company provides an implementation, support and consultation for the PTC software.

We have many companies that use the Project link for different purposes. Planning, Sharing, collaboration, price calculation what ever.

What I know only one company has left using the Project link for planning and resource planning because they have found a better user friendly software for their needs, Especially overwork resources

For the company you mentioned. Is it possible to give roughly name-list ?

I tried very hard to make use of it. The purpose built applications for collaboration and project management seem to win out. I think the problem is the Windchill UI which works great for PDM side falls flat in this area. Early project management might rely more on document management and push notifications as opposed to CAD management. That seems to be the unique plus for ProjectLink in that is allows for sandboxing CAD designs.

I concur about the collaboration criteria, particularly when working with CAD.

For example, if you need to collaborate with an external contractor for product design.

  • I can grant access to the project and add only relevant documents inside it.
  • When the project is completed, you can remove the access and checkin the data in your Windchil container.
  • You don't need to grant access to your product or library containers to your contractor.
  • You spend less time exchanging data rather than using other methods.
  • You share a common design space, which allows concurrent design.
  • ProjectLink CAD file dependencies understanding ensures your data integrity when collaborating in the product design phase.
