Installing Intralink 9.1 M040 on Windows Server 2008 x64

Has anybody successfully installed Pro/INTRALINK 9.1 M040 with Bundled Oracle 11g on a Windows Server 2008 x64 machine.

I have tried it on two different machines with no luck. Both stopped at the same point with the same error during Oracle install. Both machines previously had 9.1 m030 installed successfully.

I have had an open support call since before the holidays and now PTC is investigating the issue. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if they have found a solution.

I Just got a resolution from Tech Support.

The OSA must now have a live internet connection to install Oracle 11g. Our network firewall was blocking my machines from getting to the internet.

This is a concern.
Did PTC state why an Internet connection is required just to install these products.
I do not understand why such would be required.
Do they consider this to be a bug that will be fixed?

Eventually, we will need to do such an install within a secure environment, that has no access to the Internet, or even to the rest of our network.

This is what I got from them. I believe it is required just during the patch install

Hi Joe,
Now,the OCM is required during Opatch installation. It requires Oracle Metalink account (Oracle support account) to connect into Oracle server successfully. OSa uses dummy account in the property file. That is the reason OSA will ignore any OCM errors. The error for the ‘Time out’ problem is that the machine OSA installed may not have access to oracle support server (oracle.com) due to filewall setting. Please cross check the firewall settings.
Thanks,
Amit

In my reply I did suggest that they add this to the Read This First Document. We probably don't have the security requirements that you do. I have installed previous versions on my laptop without being connected to the internet, which will now be more of a pain.

We have just completed a successfull installation of Intralink 9.1 with Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2. There were a few problems with Windchill Directory Server being removed once the machine had been restarted. This is a known bug and can be easily fixed by enabling the service from the DS contorl panel. We have also now ran into some other problems trying to install apache/tomcat/windchill as services using the admin user created for installing the software. We believe this could be server 2008's UAC feature which is blocking access to certain files not allowing us to create the service.

Saying that everything else seems to be working fine... so far
