Intralink 3.3 ldbcompact.bat Error

Level 1

Intralink 3.3 ldbcompact.bat Error

We upgraded to Intralink 3.3 & WF about 6 months ago. Overall the experience has been ok, maybe it's my low expectation of PTC that allows me to feel happy.

Problem: I have a local database that's 1.8G in size, and I've been unable to run the ldbcompact.bat utility. I get an error "ldbcompact.bat has generated errors and will be closed by windows". Any ideas????

I need some speed back in my life. Anyone that has been on Intralink for a long time, I encourage you to open & work on some large models outside of Intralink. It's such a nice experience to be able to save w/o being bombarded with useless dialog boxes, or worse, having the model not save. The complete user experience of Intralink is poor. I do some heavy programming with Intralink's back end, and extract BOMs/Paramters/Models etc... so I can never work w/o the tool. BUT... the tool should not add 30% to my design time-line. I regularly find that I have to extend a dead line by a day b/c Intralink is just too bloody slow. In fact, some of our work is is being done in AutoCAD Smiley Sad and I regularly get beat by it. My quality of work is much higher, and I can look at any version of a part that I checked in (yay), but if the job gets done, then I loose my edge, my advantage. 20-30% playing with checkouts-checkins, sync, updating, status changes etc... it's a real number and I am not seeing a ROI, for our small site. Larger sites have little choice, the benifits out weigh the costs of having poor PDMs and models everywhere on the network.

Sorry for the rants, I'm getting tired of waiting and waiting, for refreshing, seeing an object get modified and then having to update it before check in of other stuff, having to toggle between read only and clear just to open files and save them, the FT problems are just defeating yada yada. 3.3 is not a great build, it is faster then 2.0. What can we do? What can anyone do?

Catia V5 anyone?

HELP.

RE: Intralink 3.3 ldbcompact.bat Error

I feel your pain. Just delete the .proi and start over. Set ldbcompact in your startup script so it runs regularly.

Wildfire should be called "Wild-firing of dialogue boxes." You encourage me to work on my stuff outside of Intralink? That would be nice but I can't even get may files out of Intralink since they are bigger than 1.6GB and Intralink uses ProE to export them. TGIF

Here is a funny add from Solid-Edge:

Re: Intralink 3.3 ldbcompact.bat Error

Bob,

I would just check everything in and then navigate to the .proi folder and delete everything but the .data folder and then re-start Intralink.

We delete the .proi contents when the .ddb file approaches 75-100Mb. Performance suffers too much trying to write that file again and again.

Regards
