Version = C.4

Revision = Index = C

Iteration = 4

Iteration = Checkout / Checkin

Revision = Revise after e.g. Release

Hi Luar Joy,

I am explaining Bjorn's answer briefly.

Version has two parts. Revision and Iteration.

example: sample.prt B.3

B.3 is the version where B is the revision and 3 is the iteration.

when a small change is required, we check out the particular part/document perform the change and checkin. The version changes from B.2 to B.3. This doesnot require an approval or release.

when a large change is expected, which undergoes approval from respective team, there occurs a revision. The revision changes from B.3 to C.1. This requires approval from the respective team.
