Licensed needed for Configurable Modules table

Licensed needed for Configurable Modules table

Version: Windchill 13.0

Use Case: User created several variants for parts in the system, but he cannot show "Configurable Modules" table, and he wants to know from what configurable module specific variant was created. We suppose that user needs either PTC Author license of Windchill Premium license, but I can't find confirmation in logs for StandardNmRoleAccessService

Description:

It is possible to add table called "Configurable Modules" - it shows the part that was the "context" from which the variant was created

We suppose that user needs either PTC Author license of Windchill Premium license, but I can't find direct proof and confirmation in logs for StandardNmRoleAccessService

Tried with such setup and there is no table with "Configurable Modules" visible

Create an alias attribute ,data type Object reference with mapping

roleAObject@com.ptc.wpcfg.variants.GenericVariantLink~roleBObject^wt.part.WTPart

This will show the 150%part of the variant part as an attribute

Sounds reasonable, thanks Fadel, still I wonder if there's a possibility to explain to the business user regarding conditions of availability of that Configurable Modules table, just as a reference if they would like to know capabilities of some PTC licenses.

you can add &jcaDebug=1 to the end of URL , this will show the validator hidding the table.

putting the validator to DEBUG will put some info on the logs why it hidden .

Well, I tried that, but I'm getting hidden by role-based check.

Rolebased check is most likely a "standard profile" or "configure action for roles " settings :

Check standard profiles assigned to user and also "configure actions for roles" from the Team page :

check if View "Related Advanced Configurables" action is enabled

if action is enabled on standard profiles and actions for roles , you can check same action in the assigned license profile

Ok, so let's consider following. This is list of licenses of the user:

Now, let's consider this Advanced license:

Part is following:

Let's look at actions for roles in this container

So we have that user mentioned before - T-CAII who is Change Admin II in this container.

So what exactly here is causing this user still to be rejected from seeing the table?

Hi,

You would need the Platform structures license. As far as I know, Windchill Premium does not have it.

Try this and let us know.

Cheers

Hari

I'm not sure if that's really true. I tested with my local VM, with user in such groups

The Configurable Modules table is visible, while the Platform Structures license is not there. I also tried removing Smart Platforms but the table is there anyway.

@Fadel  / @HV_13054754  - any idea on the most recent finding from my side? It really does not look like the Platform Structures license is the exact one causing the lack of access to the table.
