Moving from product to library

Hi,

I have parts and assemblies that are in the Product structure in Windchill 10.0 that are actually supposed to be reused by everyone, so I would like to move them to the Library structure instead. The products are already used in other assemblies.

So how do I move them to the Library? When I try using Move on the part, I can only see the Product folders, not the Library folders so I'm stuck.

If you are trying to more objects from a Product to a Library and you cannot see the library it's a poly admin issue. You will need to contact your Windchill Admin for proper move permissions.

There are three Move permissions - not named in such a way that anyone would guess what they are:

Change Domain - leave where it is* applied where it currently is

Change Context - leave where it is* applied where it currently is

Create by Move - go somewhere new appplied where it needs to go

* relates to how far away the new place is; see Help

Attempt to move as Admin. If ok, then defintely it's a permissions issue.

For your reference the required permissions are documented in the Windchill Help Center (WHC) in the "Permissions Required for Moving Objects" topic (http://www.ptc.com/cs/help/windchill_hc/wc100_hc/index.jspx?id=AccessControlChp_ReqPermissionMoveObj&action=show)

As well as in this article:

http://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS26516

As an FYI, in many cases, the permissions required to perform certain actions can be found in the WHC for 10.x
