Here's the deal. We're attempting to get our feet wet with WC10 prior to laying out 5 figures for a consultant to set it up for us. Foolish? Perhaps, but that's the deal.
So we've got it installed and I was setting up a few users. I decided that my user names ought to better reflect their roles, so I renamed the org admin for the main 'Design Central' org to 'DC_Admin' and org admin the 'test' org 'Test_Admin'. Clever, right?
Then I decided, because I'm OCD or something, to rename my site admin from 'Administrator' to 'Site Admin'. WC throws an error and says I don't have permissions or something. Whatever, I cancel out of the user edit screen and try to go back to the Participant Administration screen. I get a message that that area or object or something doesn't exist. Frustrated, I decide to log out and log back in. I close IE and login with my site admin credentials and I get logged in fine.
But ... I no longer have the 'Site' or 'Organizations' icons in the browser pane, essentially my one and only site admin login can no longer administer the site. Yay.
So, what did I do wrong here and, more importantly, how do I fix it?
Look in the guides to disable access policy in wt.properties and you should be able to get in that way. If that doesn't work you probably find it faster to start over and wipe away then reinstall.
Just to add a bit of the "why" on this to others correct recommendation to temporarily disable access control... OTB, the install allows only this user to be Site admin (from wt.properties). [cid:image001.png@01CCE662.5A87BB50]
