Oracle will not start after patch install

I updated Oracle from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 for use with my Windchill Intralink 9.1 M070 install and now the Oracle service will not start. The Oracle patch installation software indicated that the install was successful and when I check what is installed it all shows the latest updated .4 version. However, the Oracle service will not start and I am unable to log into sqlplus.

I opened a tech support case but I am now on my 3rd tech support engineer...

I had this issue and ran the Oracle "Databse Upgrade Assistant" wizard. Theservice/database then came alive.


It was sometime a go but as I remember I just accepted the defaults and let it run
