PDM Check-In from Project

PDM Check-In from Project

We are bringing Pro E files into our system for the first time. We currently use a versioning Sceme of AA,AB,AC....

When we bring in our documents - they are all coming in at AA.1. Does anyone know of any methods for setting the Version.

We are currently bringing them in through Project using Send to PDM and the version is automatically set there.

Any help with this issue would be great - thanks in advance.

Scott

Scott,

The ".1" is the iteration. This will increment with each checkout/checkin.
The version will go to AB when the object is Revised.

Scott -

Do you want the versioning to be A.A? in windchill, the version is made up
of the Revision . Iteration.

So therefore your revision (version in ProI) will be the same, but the
iteration is created.

If you want to have AA.A or A.A or A.1 all are possible.

We use a system of AA,AB,AC. Iterations will be numerical and we have no problem with that.

New documents should start at AA, But we are bringing in documents - some at AB, some at AC and some even higher.

We are not bulk loading our CAD data in but need to find a method to set our PRO E CAD Docs to higher versions. I know that I can do it in a PDM Workspace but cannot seem to do it in Project.

Hi Scott,

I realize this is an old posting but I'm wondering if you found a solution to this? I am creating data in ProjectLink and then moving it to PDM where it resets the revision and the lifecycle state. If you were able to manipulate the revision during import I might be able to use the same technique to keep the revision when it moves to PDM.

Thanks,

Colleen

There are mechanisms and toolsfor bulk loading which allow you to set the revision appropriately. Also, if you do not want to go that route, you may set a preference in Windchill which allows you to set revisions out of order. I'm not sure that you can do this on the initial creation/Send to PDM action, but you can check.
