PDMLink - What Type of Backup do you perform or recommend?

Greetings,

I am researching a backup solution. I am part of an implementation team migrating data from Pro/INTRALINK 3.4 to PDMLink 9.1 for a customer with 60 GB of data. Our initial setup includes a single application server that will act as fileserver, webserver, Aphelion server, Apache and TOMCAT server. A second server will host only Oracle.

We are looking for recommended methods of backups, and are curious if you are doing a cold backup, hotbackup using archived log mode, or some other method using imaging or snapshotting. We would like to know benefits and caveats, and possibly what is the fastest way to conduct a backup. We’re also concerned about possible to down time for users caused by backups and issues with synchronization during file recovery.

Good Afternoon,

I received only one response, but it was a very detailed one from an individual backing up 1.5TB of datawithin PDMLink

· Operate Oracle in archive log

· Nightly

o Incremental Snapshot of Oracle database (approximately 15 minutes)

o Batch file performs LDIF dump

o Incremental backup of codebase

o Incremental backup of FileVault

· Weekly

o Cold Backup of Oracle

o Windchill Full backup of codebase directory

o Filevault full backup

Based on his company standard he has three ways to restore data.
