PSI Fails, "create schema returned non-zero" & "Error during schema creation"

PDML & PjtL 11.0 M030, Dual Tier, SQL Server 2014, Win Server 2012 R2

PSI installation on Windchill/Application Server fails with errors;

FATAL 2018-04-11 15:19:08 - create schema returned non-zero: 1
DEBUG 2018-04-11 15:19:08 - Installation is Aborting. The installation cannot continue.

FATAL 2018-04-12 06:19:53 - Aborting installation.
FATAL 2018-04-12 06:19:53 - Installation is Aborting. The installation cannot continue.

FATAL 2018-04-12 06:19:53 - Error during schema creation. See the logs for more information.

Discussions here and on the Knowledge base indicate that the schema was previously created. In this case, it was not.

Summary installation steps:

- DB Server> SQL install/configure, PTC SI Run (no schema or data created)

- App Server> PTC SI Run (Adv SQL option, create schema and load base data selected)

Other than schema and base data not being created, what other installation steps are missing? (shortcuts are missing, not sure what else)

Thanks Ifram. Had checked all those things.

Found out two things, if the option to create the db and schema is selected while running the PSI on the SQL server, it will fail and subsequent attempts to use the same installation will fail (at least we could not find a way to get it to work).

Also found that if more than one email address is entered in the administrator field, that the PSI will fail in the end (though it's recoverable) because the HTTP Server will fail to start. HTTP Server can not have two email addresses configured in the http.conf file or it will fail to start. So was able to simple edit that file and then continue/recover the install with no problems.

Hi Dan,

Before running PSI, can you please check for the 'Enable Contained Database' value to be True on your SQL properties.

And please do check if you have admin access on your DB machine.

Check if the DB port is free or occupied with any other instance on the SQL machine.

If you are ruinning the PSI from a different machine (not from SQL machine), then check if you are able to access the SQl machine and Port by running telnet command.

Irfan
