Part occurrences

Is there a way to programmatically complete missing occurrences based on the BOM structure? I have legacy data where the occurrences have not been maintained. How to complete these?

Can you clarify what you mean by missing occurrences? Do you mean there are part occurrences in the WTPart structure, that are not coming from the related CAD assembly, or do you mean that there are models in the CAD assembly that aren't accounted for in the WTPart structure?

The easier one is if there are models in CAD not accounted for in the WTPart structure. You can perform a "build" operation on the CAD, and it will update the WTPart structure. Some caveats:

  • The WTPart structure will be iterated, so the user who does the build must have edit access
  • the structure will not build successfully if there are certain errors in the CAD, such as failed placements.

For the reverse, WTParts that are not accounted for in CAD, there is no easy fix. An engineer would have to edit the assembly and update the model with the missing components.

Hope that helps!

Part with missing occurrences were simply not included in the build...
