Possibility of creation of Viewables in session with SolidWorks during check in

Version: Windchill 12.1

Use Case: SolidWorks has option Save models with Viewables, but it would generate it on each save resulting in longer Save time. SolidWorks could also have option to create Viewables on check in by preference like checkin.content.options=Models and Viewables

Description:

We are trying to find possibility of creation of Viewables within session of SolidWorks during check in.
SolidWorks has option Save models with Viewables, but it would generate it on each save resulting in longer Save time.
Instead, a possibility to create Viewables during check in like in MatchCAD or Creo Illustrate would be helpful in SolidWorks too.

Have you read the article below?

I almost reply too quick but I re-read your post and was a bit confused. You seems to want the option to create viewables during check in only right (not on each save)? If so, there is a preference to control that.

Hello @avillanueva ,

Thank you for replying to the thread.

I have actually went through the solution provided in above article too.

In the preferences for option 'Check In Content Options' below applications are supported.

My suggestion was to have SolidWorks included in these too.

I see now. Yes not listed. If you are suggesting that this be added, I would put a post in the ideas section. Curious why SolidWorks was not listed but I gather there was a technical reason. Have you considered using server side publishing? You can have it publish on checking from that side and it has some other nice benefits.

It would definitely be helpful if this could be put in Ideas section as that was my actual intention behind this post.

The server-side publishing works for us too, but we are dealing with huge assemblies which take much longer to publish in queue when we consider large number of designers checking in data simultaneously.

The client-side check-in publish could provide great help for us in such scenario.
