Process Information: New Product Development Vs Sustaining Products

Hi Mike,

Do you handle New Product Development process inside Windchill PDMLink?
(without using ProjectLink)

If so, how do you separate the new product development Product
Information from a sustaining Product Information?

At Pelco, we have numbering schemes like for example, numeric versions
for MCAD Part implies that product is in the development phase.

Once the product gets released to production, the version starts from
Rev "A"

What we want is: when the product is under development (new product
process), then we want to handle all of that information inside
Windchill Library context.

Once the product is released to production, then we want to move Version
A of the product to the Product Context and manage everything that
happens as part of product modification inside the Product Context.

In other words, we want a clear distinction which can separate the
versions in the New Product Development phase to Existing Product.

The Move command inside Windchill PDMLink moves all the versions and
history along with it. Is there a way to move a specific version and all
the items on that version inside Windchill.

Do you handle this type of need with your implementation? if so, can you
please let me know.

Appreciate your input.

Regards,
Rekha.
