Version: Windchill 12.0
Use Case: Publish dwg files
Description:
Is it possible to use the same Creo file publisher for dwg generated by Autocad with Windchill integration? I wouldn't want to install an Autocad on the Windchill server! Thank you
Hi Nino,
Give a brief description of the software you were using, the format type you desire, and the output file you need.
Aj
I use Windchill 12.0.2.4 and Creo 8.0.9.0.
In addition to 18 Creo licenses we have recently also integrated 2 AutoCad licenses on Windchill, what I would like to achieve is the conversion into files viewable with Navigator like those of Creo.
Example
I would not like to install a copy of AutoCad on the Windchill server to use as a Worker but use the already present copy of Creo!
Hi Nino,
First make it simple if we are using Creo mean, format is .asm, .prt, .drw.
for example I want dwg/dxf file that i want from .drw format mean we can use "Visualization Configuration" that'll convert automatically dwg/pdf save it Representations/Annotation. Right click and open in Creo View.
AutoCAD doesn't want any CAD Worker to publish it'll automatically publish. But if you want direct native AutoCAD file dwg/dxf and also you want edit and modify mean you need a AutoCAD Software.

Aj
Hi Amirtharaj,
perhaps I expressed myself badly, I would like the current publisher to convert the dwg files to pdf and then view them with navigator as configured for Creo drw, all without installing an AutoCad but leaving the conversion/publishing to the Creo publisher!
@NinoDiPietranto I didn't understand what you were asking, you mean without AutoCAD software to publish or PDF conversion? What exactly are you asking for?
without AutoCAD software for publish!
@NinoDiPietranto AutoCAD does not want any CAD Workers to publish; it will publish automatically whenever the designer uploads to Windchill.
Regards,
Aj
But this is how you need an AutoCad license ....
