Question about Frames in Windchill 10.1

How do we control Frames size in the event manager in Windchill 10.1 using Creo 2 m70 on the client side?

Thanks

It's a Windchill user preference setting.

I set that, but the users have to do anything on their end or do we have to reset Windchill in order for it to take effect . As on the client side they are generating more frames than what is set.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know it takes effect immediately.

The frames are only the events with the little paper icon. Are you sure you're getting more frames than the target value?

I just did a quick test. You have to restart Creo to have the setting take effect.

Ok, I will have our engineer's test it out in the AM tomorrow and post back my findings, thanks for the quick response.

Maybe I don't really understand Frames, but I've never found them useful. When I first looked at frames back in 9.1 here are some of the issues I found.

* In Intralink 3.x stepping back was liner each frame you applied stepped you back in time

* If you pick "Apply previous Frame" multiple times in Windchill, you're not stepping back in time. Your toggling between two frames.

* If you go to the event manager to apply frames you will notice not everything you do creates a frame.

* There is no initial frame created when you open a file from your workspace.

* The event manager shows frames from multiple days. What are your chances of successfully applying a frame from a previous day?

* Also notice that you can't tell from the event manager what object & workspace that frame relates to. You would have to look at the information on that event to tell what object it relates to.

* What happens when you mistakenly apply a frame from workspace A to workspace B????

After playing around with it when it first came out in 9.1, I said no thanks and haven't looked at it again.

Like I said, perhaps I don't understand how to use frames. I'm open to be enlightened.
If you have a good tutorial showing how you would use this in real life, please share.
