Restrict "End Item" Attribute

Hi All,
10.1 M040. I found Article:CS129431 which documents how to set the default value for an End Item to Yes. However I now want to prevent the user from editing it. I have tried with the Type and Attribute manager to set the Visibility to something other than Read/Write but when I do this the default value reverts to No. Has anyone gotten this to work on a soft type of WTPart?

Not understanding.
New Part - option to create as End Item or not (Boolean attribute).
If you set to Yes by default, then users have to go out of their way to make most parts not End Items?

Ok let me back up...

I have soft typed WTPart 2 times. The first is the SCPart which will be driven from CAD and has all of the required attributes defined. This soft type is NOT an End Item. The second is SCStyleNumber which will never be driven from CAD. It does not have the same attributes as the SCPart and this soft type will ALWAYS be an End Item. So with that explanation I need to force the value for End Item for each soft type.

So, you're going back to pre 9.0 days when End Item essentially is a separate type.
Makes sense.

Yes, apparently it makes sense for our business.

Patrick,
Have you tried adding 'Immutable' as an Attribute Constraint?

Vaughn

Yes in the OIR right? That makes it revert back to No as well.
