Thanks very much for so many replies, I've learnt a lot!
It looks like there are a number of similar products out there which use IntraLINK Triggers
to automate the image file creation, and then its a bit of customised software to automate
the publication to our Intranet.
Not sure how common this knowledge is, but here is my summary anyway:
