We're running Creo 2 Parametric M090 and Windchill PDMLink 10.0 M030 and a two part question has come up regarding save-as in PDMLink versus save-as in Creo.
Our users generally prefer the save-as in Creo when duplicating a design to essentially create a clone as the starting point for a new design. The tree structure and ease of indicating what is reused and what is being cloned to a new model & drawing is generally why it is favored. However, when doing a save-as in Creo, nothing is noted in the new clone file's history (bullet point in Timeline History) to indicate which file was the source for the copy. So question one: Is there a way to force the system to note in the PDMLink file history what the source file was when the cloning is done using save-as in Creo?
When the save-as is done in Windchill PDMLink, a bullet point is available in the Timeline History of the new clone that indicates the file it was copied from. However, the popup shows the Name field (PTC_COMMON_NAME) of the source file, not the original object's file name or number. This doesn't do much good when you have a lot of parts with the same Name (Nut, Bolt, Valve Body . . .). Is there a way to get the pop-up info in Timeline History to display Number or File Name either in place of or in addition to the Name field of the source file used for the save-as operation?
Thanks!
