I was wondering if there is some way to modify Windchill such that you would be able to search on the old name as well. I know that you can view the rename history but that is not searchable. If I rename 123456.prt to 654321.prt I would like to be able to search for 123456.prt? thanks in Advance
OOTB the searches don't search on Rename History. You may be able to create a Query Builder report that would search on this. The information is stored in the IdentityChangeHistory table. You can probably build on the attached simple QML report.
