Significant Differences in Windchill Client Performance

We're in the testing phase migrating from Pro/Intralink 3.4 to Pro/Intralink 9.1. We just installed Wildfire 4 on "Bob"s computer and added a user account for him in Pro/Intralink 9.1.

The first thing "Bob" tried to do was browse a Product folder w/ ~500 objects using the Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4 embedded browser. His computer sat there for ~10 min while trying to display the Folder Contents view, then threw up a script error. "Andrew" tried to browse the same Product folder and the Folder Contents view popped up relatively quickly.

Based on "Andrew"s test, we believe that there's nothing wrong with the server. The difference between "Bob" and "Andrew" are mose likely due to the differences in the way the two machines are set up.

I reviewed the Performance Tuning Recommendations for Client Systems and on both machines we meet the browser requirements for Jscript of either:
* Internet Explorer 6 w/ Windows XP SP3
* Internet Explorer 7

I couldn't find anything else in the Tuning Recommendations to explain the differences in performance between "Andrew" and "Bob".

The two users are running different Windows Service Packs, browsers, Java versions, and Wildfire 4 versions. Does anything about these two combinations jump out at anyone? Any other suggestions for improving the performance for "Bob" when using the Product Folder Contents view?

Bob - XPSP2

Train all from day 1 not to browse in PDMLink - use search 100% of the time instead. Base all performance testing results on search rather than browse.

That said, there still may be major differences between clients - but if focuses on the useful metric.

Highly recommended - Run PTC's standard Pro/E benchmark on their standard data - which isolates various actions and system loading elements - and compare to both PTC's and other users results.
