Transferring Data to new Server

Hi,

It is possible to transfer data in windchill to a new server? For example the server update a hardware and OS. I have exported LDAP and Backup.

How/What are the steps to have transfer the all data in the old server into the new server?.

Thanks!

Luar

You can transfer Windchill data to another server by rehosting Windchill. Rehosting can be used to move or clone a Windchill system from one machine to another. Take a look at the Windchill Rehost Utility guide. This guide gives information on the rehosting process as well as instructions for using the rehost utility:

Hi Chris!

Thanks for the answer. But I cant understand all in the pdf guide.

If you copying the data on to a new server with a different host name then indeed you will have to go through the rehost process in order to change.

If the machine name will remain the same and you are simply moving the system to another machine then you can backup the LDAP, export the database and copy windchill directory.

Then you can do a fresh install on the new machine and then import the LDAP/DB and copy vaults. You can overwirte the Windchill directory also to get the correct configurations.
