1. What product and version are you running?
The Creo View 12.1 and Windchill 12.1.2.15 is used (but all before showing same obstacle)
2. What is the problem?
If a dynamic Document (like Illustration Source or Illustration Output) – see object Icons …
… wanted to be viewed directly from Windchill, the File can not be opened by …
- ACTIONS -> Open in -> Open in Creo View
.. even, the file itself is from Type *.PVZ
3. Are you using a workaround? If yes, please describe it.
The alternatives are annoying and inefficient (regarding Storage and way to open)
Alternative 1:
- Download the file and open it from Disk with Creo View
- Inefficient and takes more time to get it
Alternative 2
- Publish the PVZ towards a 2nd Content PVZ
- Inefficient use of resources (e.g. Workers and licenses)
- Duplicate Storage and spam the File servers
Unacceptable Workarounds but nothing else working today.
4. What is the use case for your organization? Describe how your idea would work in context or how it would apply to a practical situation.
Use case ... the efficient use of Viewing files was always an argument why they exist/created.
But by doing it based on the Workarounds it do not show that this is the way to go.
5. What impact does this problem currently have on your organization? (Number of users affected, hours of lost productivity, etc.)
Users affected > 2500
Hours lost if Workaround done - 1 to 5 min. per opening Task per user.
Imagine each user doing this once a week … 2500 minutes lost in a week (> 41h).
But viewing activities may x-times more … I’ts just wasting time/ressources/money.
