Unassociated objects on Promotion Requests

Fellow Windchillers,

I am looking for a way for a user to create a promotion request with
multiple Pro/E drawings (and associated models) in different folders,
possibly different products. Since this is for an interim solution
until we have our change management solution, I would rather not use
change notices for the interim.

In Pro/INTRALINK 3.4, users would gather their Pro/E objects in the
briefcase and promote from the briefcase (putting all objects on a
single RTP). I am wanting to repeat that in PDMLink but cannot find a
way to get drawings from different folders in the same view where we can
promote from.

We are on Windchill PDMLink 9.1 M020.

There is no way to put objects in different contexts on a single promotion request. It's documented that this is PTC's intention - to prevent objects with different lifecycles from being on the same request (not the best logic).

There is no copy/paste or search functionality for Promotion Requests. The only ways to get multiple objects other than collection are:
a) From Search Within (prod or lib) - the Search has Promote
b) From Product Structure

Depending on your situation, method b may be a big help

Darren - see attached document. An Advanced, Context-sensitive search I think will get your very, very close to what you are wanting.

But Mike is right, if the objects are in completely different contexts you are out of luck, if just different folders within a context my document will show you the procedure for that.
