Windchill 11.0 to 11.2 Upgrade Questions

I have some questions about upgrading Windchill 11.0 to 11.2 on the same hardware.  Currently I have Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014.  I want to end up with either SQL 2016 or 2017 and Server 2016 or 2019.  I would prefer the latter on both due to not needing to upgrade to the latter in the future then.  My last couple of upgrades have been to new servers so these questions are around having doing it on the same server.  My questions are:

  • Do I need double the disk space for my database?
  • How should I size my database temp and log disks?
  • Do I need to copy my existing vault for the upgrade?
  • Can I have two versions of SQL running on the server for upgrading or should I do the SQL upgrade after completing the Windchill upgrade?
  • Should the Windows Server upgrade be done last?
  • Anything else I need to think of hardware wise?

Thank you,

Brian

11.1 M020 is the gold standard and support lasts longer than 11.2 so you may want to do that instead

@kaudibert I see that now.  However 11.2.1 extends a little longer than 11.2.0.  So I guess I would have to do another quick update.  One of the reasons for going to 11.2 is the inclusion of document classification.
