Windchill - Check out workflow

[BALAAJ]

Actually in Windchill if you check out the object then it will take you to the workspace folder for the workaround of the object.

Is it possible to change the workflow and ignore the worksapce concepts and directly checkout on local machine for the workaround.

Just would like to get the knowledge and postive and negative feedback of the approches.

Hi BALAAJ,

We Cannot check out the Objects directly to the Local machine.

If you want to have the files in your local machine; Simply open the fiels and give a Backup to your local machine.

But if you want to check in those files.you need to work on the attributes alot.

Hello Bajaj, Workspace working is core functionality of any PDM. When you checkout something your actually working on copy of object & not directly on object. this ensures original object remains intact. Workspace acts as bridge between server & client.Users can see object as cad, doc etc but is been referred as content holder in back end.So though it is clumsy process do not by pass workspace.
