Windchill Data Warehouse

Version: Windchill 11.2

Use Case: Create a Data Warehouse of Windchill objects and relations

Description:

We would like to stand up a data warehouse that contains tables reflecting objects in our Windchill instance such as documents, parts, change objects, etc. along with any relations they have. What is the appropriate tool to use to extract this data from a Windchill instance? We considered using REST API calls but our local development team said that approach is not viable for us. Perhaps using the Business Reporting tool would work?

Hi @dchristy

I would start with reporting tool in the windchill

You can build a report template that collects all information you need, but you have to understand the connections in the system.

But It could be a option how to achieve what you need.

Windchill Reporting Resource

generally the reporting tool in Windchill is called Query Builder

CS189509 - Query builder report to fetch Product, Roles and Users from role in Windchill PDMLink

in newer Windchill version a jasper reporting is used to create a output report readable same as the Business Reporting(cognos). Again query builder is a source of the information

CS332405 - Windchill PLM - Jasper Report
