Community Tip - If community subscription notifications are filling up your inbox you can set up a daily digest and get all your notifications in a single email. X
According to this document:
https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS277240
Towards the bottom is this section:
Upon start-up and every 24 hours, Windchill synchronizes with PTC backend system and checks for valid license.
If the license is invalid or the subscription term has expired, then Windchill shuts down. A grace period of six hours is provided by PTC before shutting down the Windchill instance. In the case of cluster environment, Windchill will shut down in all the nodes. Administrators are presented with notification message before shut down.
If Windchill is with active license file and if the daily synchronization fails then Windchill will not shutdown.
My question is: What if your Windchill system is NOT on the internet and therefore cannot communicate with PTC's servers once every 24 hours? What happens to your WIndchill? Are there alternative methods for doing a license check locally?
Further up the same document, "Offline Mode":
In this mode there is no communication with PTC's servers. When the license file expires, Windchill will shut down. Windchill won't have the ability to check for a new license file, so you will have to take care of downloading and installing those yourself.
