Windows OS updates on Windchill Servers?

So what is everyone doing for updating Windows OS for the Windchill Server(s)?

  • Yes, do it!
  • No, Never!
  • Or it all depends?

If you do update, what is your process?

System Info:

  • Windchill 10.1 m040
  • MS SQL
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter, Service Pack 1

We do monthly patching using Altiris, and patch groups are configured in such a way that production gets n-2 patch set, staging gets n-1 and qa gets n(current). QA and staging goes through periodic functional and perf test cycles.

Marc,

we just update to Windows 2012 R2 because of the scheduled end of support of previous OS (Windows 2003 R2).

Windchill 10.2 M030

Oracle 11.0.2.4
