Worker Fails to Start

Worker Fails to Start

The Windchill server restarts every night. Sometimes the worker on the publisher fails to start and the worker Dameon service on the publisher server needs to be restarted as well which usually resolves the issue. Should I be restarting the worker dameon service nightly as well or is there another issue going on here.

Note: I did not set up this system. IT has remove access from all users so troubleshooting is difficult. I sort of need to have a list of things for the IT server admins (who are not Windchill admins) to try.

I ended up just restarting the worker daemon after the server restart. The server restarts every night as part of the back up routine. This solution seems to be working

You should not need to restart the Dameon service at all. Is there any active firewall or advanced security at work here? Curious why you are restarting your Windchill server each night? That should not be necessary also. The dameon service simply listens for incoming startup commands from Windchill server. When workers are idle, they should stop themselves. As far as I know, there should not be a persistent connection between them.  This is a great place to start:

Hello,

I have few work around to resolve this issue.

1. If Windows OS go to Service> Gs Worker Deamon / PTC Worker Deamon> Properties>Recovery> First Failure - Restart services> Second Failure - Restart Services> Substantial Failure - Run Program> Program> Browse> Locate to Worker Deamon & Select> Ok. This will restart automatically without any manual processes if services fails to start

2. In Worker Agent Administrator >Step 6/7> click AutoStart CheckBox.

Thanks & Regards
