any success with WGM 9.1 for CATIA?

Is anyone using WGM9.1 to manage CATIA V5 data?

Are you using CGR data?

Do you use Calculated Associations?

Hi,

we are currently using 9.1 M030 with CATIA R17, 18 & 19. We do have cache mode turned on, but have had to have two patches for the WGM from PTC to resolve issues with CGR compatability which was causing both metadata corruption and also CATIA crashes. Currently the system is a lot more stable and functions generally OK. I believe the metada corruption mainly revolves around the cgr's and how they are linked to the models.

If you use cache mode there are a couple of 'site' level preferences that have to be set to do with uploading the cgr's and xml data.

Another thing we currently have issues with is renaming parts if they are associated to drawings. We get an error regarding associations which cannot be over-ridden and so far PTC have no fix other than installing M050 which is not currently an option for us. Even if you do manage to rename a CATIA file, then you have to manually open any assemblies it is used in and resoove the links to the new files. Not ideal, but it works.

We also have to use manual numbering for models, as autonumbering only allocates a number to the item once it is uploaded, so you then have to re-name the CAD file if you want the filename and number to match. I seem to remember getting the parameter based naming and numbering taking a while to get to work properly.

We use windchill with Pro/E, CATIA, Solidworks & UG, and while it works OK with CATIA, it is definately the CAD system we have most issues with.

Hope that helps?
