backing up local workspace in Windchill

Undoubtedly, many of you have experienced an unfortunate workspace corruption or two in your time using Windchill. In Intralink, I used to back up the .ddb file of each of the users once a day before Intralink would start. That way I could always "roll back" to an earlier working state in the event of a workspace corruption.

I would like to do the same thing in Windchill, but there does not seem to be a single file like a "local.ddb" or a simple group of files to backup. I know that I could just backup the entire .wf folder, but I really don't want to backup all of the "sid_" and "lid_" ProE files if it isn't absolutely necessary.

Any suggestions? Has anybody done this?

Thanks,

Hi John,

Afaik, you only can backup the entier cache, since all content files
(sid_'s and lid_'s) of all CADdocuments of all workspaces are gathered
in one folder. We did such backups as well, but we stopped because of
the effort.

I advice the users to avoid local modified content, although I have to
admit that you can't prevent it always. When a cache crashes, we rename
the folder and start a new one. As far as the user is aware of the
local modified content, we assist him to retrieve it manually. It's a
burden, but not impossible.

Met vriendelijke groeten,
Kindest regards,
