deleting a WC user can affect drawings

deleting a WC user can affect drawings

We use the locked parameter in the model for "ptc_wm_created_by" to automate the drawing block for the "drawn by" value, when a user leaves the company and is deleted, all his released drawings now show the value as....... John Doe (deleted). This is without a check out or check in !!!. PTC says it requires a customization to fix it, it also displays it in Windchill for the "modified by" and "created by" columns. Now we have to go back to the old days of creating a model parameter like "created by" and then add it into the formats but this won't fix how windchill displays it.

That is the intended functionality and like PTC says it takes customization to preserve the drawing names but the Windchill names will always show (deleted).

We had in our start part files the code for Designed_by=ptc_wm_created_by and also some others, modified by, modified date, created date, etc.
The values that had to remain static in the title block from revision 0 were all assigned to company specific attribute names.

RE: deleting a WC user can affect drawings

This situation is one reason why PTC says it is better to deactivate accounts rather than delete them. The benefit to this approach is it avoids model/drawing/format parameter/relations changes and applies to all existing data, not just new models going forward.

It really is a shame that PTC recommends deactivating accounts but doesn't provide the group or the filtering OOTB and only explains how to delete accounts.
