To provide more details, the memory issue occurs specifically when generating thumbnails for certain CAD files. As shown in the attached screenshot, the pvsthumb.exe process consumes an excessive amount of memory during thumbnail generation, eventually leading to a Windchill server shutdown.

This issue appears to be isolated to specific CAD files, rather than occurring system-wide. We suspect that it may be related to the complexity or size of the CAD models involved.

Could you please advise on how to address this issue? For example:

• Is it possible to limit the memory usage of pvsthumb.exe?

• Are there any best practices for generating thumbnails from large or complex CAD files?

i would strongly suggest diagnosing this issue with PTC Technical Support. you need to provide them with a breakdown of you installation and configuration to better understand why this is happening. 

i always run cad workers and thumbnail generators on their own computer and not the server running Windchill.
