wc10: download content does not give you native proe file anymore

Hi All,

We are upgrading in a couple of weeks from 9.1 m040 to 10.0 m040. One of the reasons we have stayed on the 9.1. m040 for that long was the ability to download content in the form of real prt files from a stand alone browser in PLM. Now we will have to train our MasterCAM folks (who are NOT PROE USERS) to start proe, open a pha file in proe and back it up so they can use that file in their application.

My question to the forum is: does anybody figured out a way to output a content as native proe files directly from PLM without PROE?

I am thinking may be CADWORKER can be used here...

Old download mechanism wasn't putting out accurate data as the CAD files did not have their meta-data updated before being downloaded.


1- Packages functionality will allow you to get all CAD data, after syncing it via the worker, and then download all without Creo.

2- Now, packages are clunky so that is a downfall.

3- Could a secondary file be used instead of the actual CAD (IGES, STEP)? In 10.1 you can have the publisher dump out a bunch of additional file types (IGES, STEP, PDF,DXF) with a simple right click.

a. This functionality is really slick, you can setup different things to be published based on object type, lifecycle and even IBA values using IF statements etc.
