Convert Facet Feature to Solid

Is there a way to convert a facet feature (say imported from a STL file) into a editable solid in Pro/ENGINEER? Deelip Menezes

See my post: http://www.ptc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4279 Does that help?

Thanks for the pointer. So I guess with add-ons you may be able to reverse engineer a mesh into a set of curvy trimmed NURBS surfaces. But there is no way of making an one-to-one conversion from a mesh into a solid. I mean, if I have a mesh sphere with 100 triangular faces, there is no way to convert it into a solid with 100 trimmed planar surfaces, right? Deelip Menezes

I guess you can do that manually by merging every pair of surface facets (using the Merge feature), but that would be very tedious. In addition, chances are there will be some "gaps" between facets due to corrupted geometry that would come through during data translation.

Thanks. Deelip Menezes
