Chromium zoom settings for windchill in creo parametric

Chromium zoom settings for windchill in creo parametric

When using a 4K display the font size of windchill is quit small, you can adjust this manually , but it's not a saveable setting.

We'd like to set the font size for this in creo settings or in a subpage of the browser.

This is more important with Creo 7 because the embedded browser is now zoomed in more by default.

I believe this should be fixed in Creo. The zoom level should be kept.

  • Corrected since Creo Parametric 7.0.4.0 and 8.0.1.0

Sorry, as stated in CS341907 the zoom level is only stored when "ie_browser" (default) setting is used. It is not stored for "chromium_browser" setting.

Correct, we're still awaiting a chrome based solution.

Where does it state that? I must be missing something.

you can find it when searching for the case in the ptc e-support.

  • windows_browser_type chromium_browser: Chrome
    • The zoom level differs / is not stored prior next Creo launch
    • Manual zoom level change:
      • Ctrl + "+"/"-" key

Correct , I misread, still need to try it out though.🙃

Some additional thoughts:

The embedded chromium browser is much faster than the IE default, but there are several limitations (fonts scaling not remembered, no font scaling via ctrl + mouse wheel, chrome extensions not possible for single sign on etc.). As IE (and its Trident library) is on its way out the same functionality should be possible with the "chromium_browser" setting.

I am still not sure what I am missing. That being said I don't have 7.0.4 installed. Maybe one of you do?

I went to the article mentioned. It says it has been fixed in 7.0.4 and it says for 7.0.3 and before that you have to use the +/-

Please check it out. Last week it was confirmed by PTC support, that it is still not working with the newest WGM release and they had also difficulties with Creo and other customers. Thus it sounds not completely fixed. But maybe the support used the wrong version. At least for WGM v11.1 M020 CPS17 (the newest version with the currently longest support time frame as 12.0.2 (long term support version) is not out yet) it is definitely not fixed.

I just tested it with Creo 7.0.4 and it didn't store the settings.

Note that I'm getting a company config.pro loaded in, so perhaps it's not communicated where the zoom setting is stored.
I've added the feedback to the case, we'll see what happens.

I just tried it out in Creo 8.0.1. The default zoom setting is back to where it used to be. It appears to me that zoom settings are saved within a session of Creo but they get reset after a reboot of Creo.

Using Creo 7.050, chromium browser, it remembers the zoom for the current session, but not for the next session.

Using Creo 8.000, chromium browser, it does not remember the zoom on the next browser page.

Also, "CTRL+o" does nothing, I know it's an IE thing, but it would be nice to be able to reset in chromium.

Does anyone use IE, still?

today, i ran into the same issue.

Running 8.0.3.0

Maybe Creo 10.0.0.0 will fix this. 🤞
