Mathcad Prime 2.0’s Performance: Better, Faster, Stronger

Today's blog, "Mathcad Prime 2.0's Performance: Better, Faster, Stronger" is a continuation of our last post about Mathcad Prime 2.0's performance. Take a moment to read today's blog post which explores all the benefits of Mathcad Prime 2.0's new performance capabilities. Here is a brief excerpt:

"With the first improvement, the Intel Math Kernel Library (MKL), users will notice that when you are conducting very large calculations, or working with large matrices, it will take a lot less time to complete. This high speed is a result of the increase in communication within the software from multithreading. Chahid Ghaddar, a Software Development Engineer and Senior Technical Consultant at PTC, testifies that “You can easily see improved performance from 10-40% depending on the size of your data.”

Mathcad Prime 2.0 is faster especially for large computations and large amounts of data. The 64 bit architecture allows you to work with larger applications and more memory so that you can run much larger problems and define much larger data structures."

Hi Valery,

Thanks for your inquiry. The reason we are writing blog posts about Mathcad Prime 2.0 is to give current users like you and people that may be curious about the product, more information about the updates and new features of the product. We like to keep everyone in the loop, we want everyone to know what they can expect, and we want to answer some of your questions beforehand so the transition can be easier for those who are upgrading to Mathcad Prime 2.0.

You have a sharp eye and pointed out that we are still offering the Mathcad Prime 1.0 free trial. This is because Mathcad Prime 2.0 has not yet launched. The Mathcad Prime 2.0 free trial will be available once the regular product has actually been launched itself.

Thanks

Mathcad 3, Worse,Slower and Weaker.

Well if Mathcad Prime 2.0's Performance: Better, Faster, Stronger what happened? In my view, Mathcad Prime 3 is as slow as a snail. As for stronger, has anyone experienced what I am seeing? For example, if you turn on multithreading in the solve block, MathCad seems to run even slower and then if you are lucky enough to get a result without Mathcad fully crashing; alternatively what one will find is that some calculation and plots show results whilst others crash around it, i.e. MC shows those annoying big red outlines around plots etc. The solution don't turn multithreading on, if you want MCP3 to give reliable results, or go back to MathCad 15. Alternately, PTC needs to reduce their marketing budget so that they can employ some good software engineers at the coal face to provide their long suffering users with an urgent maintenance release.

Unfortunately this is another disgruntled user's hard earned experience with MathCad Prime 3.

Regards, Mark
