Windows 7 Home Premium and Mathcad 15

Hi,

I was a very satisfied mathcad user and now am very dissatisfied to the point that I may never use a PTC product again. The steps to do licensing was ridiculous, and to get things running on W7 has been atrocious.

I went with Prime, thinking that it was the next step forward, and that with the Mathcad 15 conversion, all would be well. In some places it indicates that W7 HP is acceptable, but when I try to install M15 so that I can actually convert my files, it tells me that Im an XP user (no, I have W7), and that because XP SP 2 is the required OS, I cannot install Mathcad 15 on the computer.

So now I need to pay $90 to upgrade to W7 pro so that I can operate legacy XP inside of the OS so that I can run what looks to be an extremely poorly implemented version of mathcad?

I have a single user license and dont always have network access, so I need to use the locked node license. It appears to me that this means that I cannot install and run prime/15 on another (XP) computer to do my conversion. So much of this is not well documented or unclear to the end user, it is ridiculous. Call me stupid or impatient that I dont want to have to go through eight million steps and PDF documents to figure out how to get this software running, when it used to install and run flawlessly.

Because of a failed HDD, I dont have a fallback installation of mathcad elsewhere to utilize. I can find another XP machine to install 15 and prime on, but I ultimately want to be able to have my old and new files running in prime on the machine that I currently have it installed on.

Any suggestions? Sorry for the rant.

Hello!

What kind of service release of Mathcad 15 (F000, M005, M010) you mean? Try to make a "silent" installation using the installer "Mathcad15WixInstaller.msi" from the folder "mathcad" (from ZIP Mathcad package):

P.S. Try to report this problem to the PTC's tech support ("Log a New Case"), here: http://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/case/case_logger.jsp

(or, by using "Mathcad Support Center": http://www.ptc.com/support/mathcad_supportCenter.htm)

I see. Perfect. No issues with XP SP2/W7/etc.

Even converted some files I made recently in M14.

Wil be interesting to see how it converts some of my older files from 2000/2001 timeframe.

Thanks so much!

No problem.

Just note that when you working with converter for Prime 1.0, you can not convert old files which contain the following elements: 3D-plots, hidden areas, symbolic calculation - instead of them will be inserted a pictures.
