Guys i am very new to mathcad and having problems entering the equation below can somebody help
solve 5cos2(t)+3sin(t)-3=0

Is the attached of any help, or is it the mechanics
of entering the equation that is the problem?

if typing in the equation is part of the problem
then it is worth noting that if you use the tool palettes then the tool tip has the corresponding keyboard short-cut, so the boolean equality check is
entered using Ctrl+= (rather than the plain =
equals)

Running through the 'getting started' examples in
the tutorial (listed under the help menu) is definitely worth doing even if tedious....

You have to define variables before using them in an equation, unless you use the Boolean equals, which is Ctrl =, as Philip mentioned above. Do read through the Tutorials.

And note the special distinction between "Numeric"
solving and "Symbolic" solving.

The first needs and uses numbers. This is the normal
operating mode for most mathcad users.

The second generally uses symbols, only resorting to
stings of digits as a last resort (and often
produces 'red' errors, which merely indicate the
lack of numbers, see point 1.)
