Grading Students in a High School Cad course?

This is our first year teaching CAD (ptc/creo) in the high school. After 3 weeks, in a class of about 22-25, most of the students are starting to get the hang of the drawing tool. My question to all who are reading, what is your opinion on a good, efficient method of Grading the students?

Are there any testing materials (mult choice, drawing exhibits) available through the PTC Academic Program?

To be honest, I'd like to just give a pass/fail and concentrate on giving the students the time in class to develop their hands-on skill. But unfortunately, we still live in a grade based environment.

Any ideas or test/quiz examples greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Please contact PTC with this question. They have curriculums with all the tools you need as an instructor. It is something you might need to budget for but their programs are very comprehensive. Here is a screenshot of what is offered to teachers:

Short of this you have some homework to do. If nothing else, see if you can get an evaluation license. You might find out exactly what level you want to bring your students to and in what timeframe.

...and remember, this is CAD training, not so much industry standards which is moving into the industrial technology category. For high school CAD, it is probably enough to understand the difference between ASME and ISO.

The PTC Academic Program provides teachers and students in middle and high schools with access to Precision LMS e-learning. Over 2000 hours of multi-media tutorials cover most of the features in PTC Creo. We can assign your students PLMS Accounts to you as their teacher giving you access to assign courses and view their performance in the end of course multiple choice tests. Complete a support request form and we will send details how to get your students linked to your PLMS account.
