This is a follow-up presentation from PTC Live Global 2014 that shares the method used at Sandia National Laboratories to identify, authorize, and to configuration manage a STEP file that is geometrically equivalent to the associated three-dimensional (3D) computer-aided design (CAD) native part model file (PTC CREO Parametric), including part models within an inseparable assembly. A STEP file created according to this method at Sandia is known as a “Support Model”. Both mean and nominal Support Model options are addressed, including the capture of the STEP file within the PDM tool (PTC Windchill PDMLink).
