Graphically Visible Uncalculated Feature

Good Monday morning to everyone,

I am trying to find the name of functionality in Pro/E. This functionality is used when there are many repetitious features in a part. In my example, I have a part which has over 1000 of the same hole in it. This pattern of holes makes the part very time consuming to manipulate when the feature is not suppressed. I have seen the past, there is a way you can change something about the visibility of a feature. Changing this option for that specific feature allows the feature to still graphically regenerate, however to Pro/E it acts like it is suppressed. In short, you can see it but Pro/E does not have to regenerate it and therefore does not deal with all of the edges, points and surfaces those features create.

Is anyone familiar with this functionality or what it is called? Thanks in advanced, chances are I'll still be waiting for my model to regenerate by the time I get a reply. 😉

Better late than never. After finishing the other projects that popped up ahead of this one, I was finally able to come back to this and correct the issue I was having with the part. Thank you to everyone (who months ago) sent in their suggestions for this problem.

While there is no feature that exists exactly as I have described it, there is one function that is similar in nature. The idea is to place the feature you do not want to regenerate as far back in the model tree as you can. Then Edit > Read Only, select the feature. This will stop all features from the beginning of the model tree up to the selected feature from regenerating. That is also the drawback however, only features after this will regenerate as you progress.

I have used this on my part with the many holes with great success. Before the part would take 10 minutes easily to regenerate, now takes moments. Thank you again everyone!
