PDF's Under 64 Bit OS

I think this has been covered, but I wasn't able to find it in the
archives

In Wildfire 2.0 (32 bit), Pro/E has a built in feature to create PDF's
if you have a version of adobe acrobat.

In Wildfire 3.0 (32 bit), Pro/E improved the feature by not requiring
adobe acrobat.

But in the 64 bit world of Wildfire 3.0 (m90), the built-in PDF
functionality has been removed. I'm not sure how the 64 bit version of
Wildfire 2.0 handles PDF's (i.e. does it still work if you have acrobat,
does the version of acrobat have to be 64 bit?)

Does anyone know why the built-in PDF x64 bit functionality was removed
and when it's coming back? At first I thought it was an x64 Adobe
Acrobat limitation, but I tested my copy of SolidWorks x64 and the
save-as PDF function is still there and works (and I don't' have any
version of acrobat).

Generally, we use the ghostscript process for creating PDF's (32 bit and
64 bit work well), but there are times when the built save-as PDF
function is useful (provided you can get the font issue and file size
issue under control).

Thanks

Chris

This doesn't really answer your question but I have found the free PrimoPDF to be an excellent pdf maker. Installs like a printer that you select when printing.

64 bit PDF under Wildfire 3.0 was not there because Adobe did not have libraries available. Adobe just released Acrobat 8.1 which allows XP 64 to create PDF directly and the appropriate libraries.

Wildfire 4.0 has these libraries incorporated and can created PDFs on XP 64.
