Original Question:
I need to save a Pro/E model as Encapsulated Post Script (EPS), Scale Vector
Graphics (SVG), or Adobe Illustrator (AI) type file. The resulting files
MUST be in one of these three VECTOR-BASED scaleable formats. There is an
option in Pro/E to do a SAVE AS to an EPS file, but from what I can tell
Pro/E is saving this as the raster version of an EPS file, and not the
vector-based version of an EPS. As most of you probably know both formats
(raster and vector) of EPS files do exist. I have also tried placing a view
of the model on a drawing as well to see if there are any methods there to
output the file as required without any luck.
I would like to know:
* If anyone can verify that the type of EPS that Pro/E outputs is
raster based?
* Are there any config options that allow me to change this output
type to a vector-based EPS file? I did not see any.
* If anyone has a procedure that they use (which may include
third-party programs such as Paintshop Pro, Photoshop, GIMP, etc) to convert
Pro/E models into either EPS, SVG, or AI vector-based files. The simpler the
procedure the better.
I need to get this done ASAP. Thanks up front for your help.
Answers:
The easiest ways are to either:
1. Save a ProE drawing as a PDF (File/Save A Copy/Type PDF) then convert it
using Adobe Illustrator.
2. Print a ProE drawing using the Generic Postscript printer, which will
generate an EPS file.
You need to use drawing mode so that ProE creates vectors, not bitmaps.
Maybe you can get this to work for you.....
* Rename the file *.eps
There are two caveats:
* There is no preview image.
* There will be an error message if you don't have the "Times-Roman"
font.
You should be able to open this file in Illustrator and Photoshop or place
it in Pagemaker.
